Los Premios Pulitzer fueron establecidos por Joseph Pulitzer, un periodista y editor de peri\u00f3dicos h\u00fangaro-estadounidense, que dej\u00f3 dinero a la Universidad de Columbia a su muerte en 1911. Una parte de su legado se utiliz\u00f3 para fundar la Escuela de Periodismo en 1912 y establecer los Premios Pulitzer, que se otorgaron por primera vez en 1917.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Junta de Pulitzer de 19 miembros est\u00e1 compuesta por destacados periodistas o ejecutivos de noticias de medios de comunicaci\u00f3n de todo Estados Unidos, as\u00ed como cinco acad\u00e9micos o personas en las artes. El decano de la escuela de periodismo de Columbia y el administrador de los premios son miembros sin derecho a voto. El presidente rota anualmente al miembro o miembros de mayor antig\u00fcedad.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
